There was a season in my life when life was on steroids. I could wish for something and it happened.

I wanted a bank job. I got one before I finished school.

I admired Standard Chartered Bank. Within six months, I was employed.

I wanted to live in Victoria Island, Lagos. I moved there.

I wanted a brand-new car, not my second-hand Toyota anymore. I walked into Honda… and drove home a brand-new Honda City.

My ability to attract what I truly desired was on steroid – I could aim for anything and get it!

I was the one everyone pointed to and said:

“She’s our star.”
“Things just work for her.”
“We are watching your life.”

The Decision That Changed Everything

Then I made a decision.

I decided that the last story told about me would not be shame, pain, or failure.

So I went for self-image laundry.

I dove into healing. Into books. Into deep identity work.

I changed the voice narrating my life.

And that changed everything.

I knew life could be better because I had experienced better, that, became an anchor and an advantage –

But for many more people I meet daily in my coaching sessions and classrooms, they do not have ample positive experiences to serve as an anchor and an advantage –

Then I made one hurried decision, and life took a major detour. While I was deeply immersed in fixing the consequences of that decision, something subtle but dangerous happened.

My confidence drained. My optimism evaporated. The ease disappeared. I forgot who I used to be – I once happy girl, I had completely lost my vibrant joyful nature.

Pain walked in. Self-doubt followed. Imposter syndrome took a seat. I started regurgitating pain, hurt, painful words, scary scenes in my mind — I was a hole, I was sinking deep and fast.

I shrank. I began comparing myself with the whole world.

I remember taking a vacation and while on transit in Kenya- Wrapped in my hotel room – I recalled what life used to be but I had no idea how to change my situation – Pure overwhelm

I shrank in my seat. Tears rolled down my face. And a quiet voice whispered inside me: “Such testimonies don’t happen for me.” That was the day I knew I needed to fight -

I thought I had to perform to earn love. For the longest time, I knew how to give and give and expect less or nothing. I called it strength — until I was completely depleted.

“I can’t keep trying harder at a life my identity is not aligned with.”

I didn’t realize that time doesn’t heal — it buries.
